HOW A MCB WORKS
A Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) is an automatic electrical protection device designed to safeguard circuits against overload and short-circuit faults. Under normal conditions, electrical current flows safely through the MCB to the connected load. Whenever the current exceeds its rated limit, the MCB instantly trips, disconnecting the circuit and preventing damage to wiring, electrical equipment, and potential fire hazards.
Current Flow of MCB
During normal operation, electrical current passes through the following internal components:
Kapson MCBs
Protection Mechanism
Overload Protection: The Bi-Metal Strip heats up and bends when excessive current flows for a prolonged period, releasing the trip mechanism and opening the contacts.
Short Circuit Protection: A sudden fault current energizes the Magnetic Coil, which instantly trips the breaker and disconnects the circuit within milliseconds.
Result: The MCB automatically isolates the faulty circuit, ensuring reliable operation, enhanced electrical safety, and long-term protection for both equipment and users.
